Transnational Cities with Tate Britain

We are pleased at TrAIN to be co-hosting a international symposium “Transnational Cities” in partnership with Tate Research Centre: Asia.

This two day symposium will examine the historical interconnectedness of cultures in Tokyo and London. The first day explores Tokyo’s transnational histories and futures. The second day looks at the intersections and points of contact among multiple cultures and diverse artistic legacies in London.

TrAIN member Professor Sonia Boyce will be a keynote speaker for this event. The symposium is co-convened by TrAIN’s Professor Toshio Watanabe.

Speakers include: Alessio Antoniolli, Michael Asbury, Gavin Jantjes, Shanay Jhaveri, Carmen Julia, Geeta Kapur, Kuroishi Izumi, Sook-Kyung Lee, Amna Malik, Vivan Sundaram, Ming Tiampo, Isobel Whitelegg and Hiroki Yamamoto.

This event will be held on the 29th and 30th September at Tate Britain.
